The Zambezi Sands River Lodge by Batoka Africa – a five-star luxury at the western end of Zambezi National Park – will be hosting a holistic women’s wellness retreat to heal professionals who are experiencing burnout. This retreat, with bespoke programming for each guest, will take place from August 4 to 8 this year, and is restricted to just 20 individuals to ensure the best results.

“Getting out of the stress of everyday routine and immersing yourself in nature is a restful experience on its own. With our retreat we seek to holistically address women’s health, tapping into the natural elements and the expertise of our world class facilitators,” says co-founder of Batoka Africa, Vimbai Masiyiwa.

Burnout, particularly among women, has been on the rise in the past few years. A recent study showed that 93% of women have experienced high levels of pressure and extreme stress in the past year. Another survey found that nearly half of the respondents said they were in poor mental health, and one-third had taken time off work to improve their condition.

In light of the alarming levels of stress and burnout experienced by women, the upcoming wellness retreat at Zambezi Sands offers a luxurious restart deep in nature, deep within the majestic African bush. The retreat is intentionally limited to a maximum of 20 participants to allow deep connections to take root and allow high-level personalisation of each attendee’s journey to recovery.

The retreat, spread over five days, includes restorative yoga flows, functional training, relaxing game drives and nourishing meals designed to invigorate the body and soul. Additionally, a women’s health specialist will work with guests to address key concerns alongside Dr. Anesu Mbizvo, a renowned yoga teacher and holistic health expert. Meanwhile, self-reflection sessions and explorative mindfulness workshops will seek to shift the attendee’s headspace for effective rejuvenation.

“With this retreat we aim to balance restoration and the safari experience with deep work that will have an impact on the women who attend, far beyond the five days they spend with us,” says Masiyiwa.
“Finding equilibrium can be difficult, which is why our retreat facilitates self-discovery and provides the framework for finding inner harmony. The role of a wellness retreat in 2024 goes beyond a few days of relaxing, we see it as a catalyst for becoming your best self.”
